About Adil Hussain
Hussain is known for his critically acclaimed performances in award winning theater and film. With a prolific stage and film career of more than 80 films, he is known for his work in films such as Ang Lee's Oscar winning 'Life of Pi', Subhashish Bhutiani's 'Hotel Salvation/Mukti Bhavan' (over 25 international film awards, including the 2017 National Award in India) , Iram Haq's 'What Will People Say' (the 2018 Norwegian National Award, the Amanda), Prakash Jha's 'Pareeksha', Gautam Ghosh's 'The Wayfarer', Danis Tanovic's 'Tigers', Mira Nair's 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist', Pan Nalin's 'Angry Indian Goddesses', Partho Sen-Gupta's 'Sunrise', Italo Spinelli's 'Gangor', Prashant Nair's 'Umrika', Leena Yadav's 'Parched' and Bauddhayan Mukherji's 'The Violin Player' and so many more.

His longest running theater act ‘Othello - A Play in Black and White’, directed by Roysten Abel was performed across Western Europe, Africa, and India for 10 years. The play received international acclaim and was awarded the Fringe First in Edinburgh, and received rave reviews from “The Scotsman” and “The Independent” in the UK.
Hussain has been nominated for numerous Best Actor awards and has been recognized at the 'Washington DC South Asian Film Festival' and 'Rajasthan International Film Festival'. In 2020, Adil Hussain was awarded the London International Film Festival’s ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ for his contribution to global cinema. He has also been acknowledged by News Live TV in his home state of Assam with the '2015 Best Assamese Person of the Year Award', and with the '2021 Global Icon Award' by the Prag Television Channel.
